Geoparkian are students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Tunku Putra, Padang Matsiarat, Langkawi. The official Geopark school.
The students are mentored by bupeople in the "green classroom" which serve as a platform to know more about the essential principles of our climate systems and human induced climate changes.
The objective of this program is to empower the youth of Langkawi with the vision and mission to inherit the ecological heritage of our geopark through knowledge and action. It is our hope that this will lead to a greater appreciation of our ecosystem and a step towards large scale ecosystem rehabilitation in Langkawi and globally.
Investment into our future generation is our hope of reversing the trends that is leading to biodiversity loss, desertification, extreme weather events and even human induced climate changes.
We recognize that the scale is global and these disruptions are not a local problem but one that is a systemic problem on a planetary scale. By equipping our Langkawi youth with the proper understanding and knowledge on these issues, we trust that they will contribute towards a better future.
